Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) July 21, 2015
Hodgkinson Street Mepham has enjoyed considerable wins in the six years since its founding. Following notable success, Hodgkinson Street Mepham attorney, Tracy A. Hooper, was asked to serve as a mentor for a local law school’s first year law students.
Hooper’s contributions to Hodgkinson Street Mepham’s success since joining the medical malpractice defense team are numerous. In March 2015 in King County, Washington, Hooper assisted Jeffrey Street on a case involving an emergency medicine physician’s allegation of failure to diagnose epidural abscess. The defense verdict came back unanimous; Hooper was recognized for her assistance in finding relevant witness information.
Hodgkinson Street Mepham has encouraged community involvement via pro bono efforts since its inception in 2009. Attorneys Abby Miller and Tracy A. Hooper are both members of the Pro Bono Committee of the Multnomah Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section while David Mepham and Jeffrey Street are active participants in the Multnomah County Bar Association.
As a graduate of one of Oregon’s most prestigious law schools, Hooper was contacted by its career center. The responsibilities of a mentor include:
- Discussing the practical, everyday nature of practicing law
- Assisting mentees with composing resumes
- Examining and give feedback on legal briefs
- Routinely check-in to offer academic and professional guidance
Many mentees are concerned about the job market once they graduate; Hooper provides guidance and practical advice on how to transition from law student to successful practicing attorney.
