Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau shares craft breweries to visit in Virginia’s Blue Ridge this August during Virginia Craft Beer Month

The Roanoke Valley in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains is quickly developing into a popular location for craft breweries.

Craft beer lovers who are in need of a mountain vacation are in luck this summer. Virginia’s Blue Ridge is celebrating craft beer month this August - a Virginia tradition that repeats each year. With eight breweries throughout the region, a variety of brews, locations and even a craft brewery tour provide plenty of options for visitors who are eager to sample the tastes of Virginia’s Blue Ridge.

According to the Virginia Tourism Corporation, the craft beer industry in Virginia has quickly boomed from just a handful of breweries to nearly 100. In just a few short years, eight micro-breweries have planted roots in Virginia’s Blue Ridge, including, Big Lick Brewing Company, Callaway Brewing Company, Chaos Mountain Brewing, Flying Mouse Brewery, Parkway Brewing Company, Roanoke Railhouse Brewery Company, Soaring Ridge Craft Brewers and Sunken City Brewing Company. These breweries recently joined forces to create what is now known as Virginia’s Blue Ridge (VBR) Beerway.

The VBR Beerway was established to generate awareness of the breweries in Virginia’s Blue Ridge. This self-guided tour is the perfect way to experience the flavors of the region and meet the people who are bringing these great beers to life. During the month of August and in honor of Craft Beer month, the beerway breweries are offering the opportunity to win fantastic prizes, including gift certificates and merchandise just by visiting each of the locations. Participants 21 years of age and older are eligible when their craft beer card is stamped with an official validation. Enjoy all the love that's on tap in Virginia's Blue Ridge and cheers to great beer.
