Evolution Swim Academy Mission Viejo is pleased to announce the addition of Rebecca Soni, Olympic champion and world record holder, to its group of Olympic partners.

Rebecca will play an active role as an ambassador for Evolution Swim Academy in promoting drowning prevention through year-round swim lessons.

Evolution Swim Academy would like to welcome Rebecca Soni to its team of Olympic partners. Rebecca participated in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic games while representing the United States of America. Rebecca won three gold medals along with three silver medals at the games. Rebecca also swam at three world championship competitions where she won seven world championship titles. At the 2012 Olympic games, Rebecca broke the 200 Meter Breaststroke world record on her way to being the first female swimmer ever under the 2:20 mark (2:19.59). At the same Olympics, Rebecca swam the breaststroke leg of the U.S.A. women’s gold medal winning 400 Medley Relay, which also broke the world record (3:52.05).

Rebecca will be joining Olympic partners Felipe Delgado (1996, 2000 Olympian), Aaron Peirsol (2000, 2004, 2008 Olympian), Larsen Jensen (2008, 2012 Olympian), Gabe Woodward (2004 Olympian) and Derya Buyukuncu (6x Olympian). All six Olympians have Southern California Swimming roots and all Olympians, except Rebecca, grew up swimming in Southern California. Rebecca attended the University of Southern California (09’) and trained locally in preparation for the 2012 Olympic games.

Rebecca will play an active role as an ambassador for Evolution Swim Academy in promoting drowning prevention through year-round swim lessons.

“I look forward to working with Rebecca to bring a heightened awareness to drowning prevention through year-round swim lessons. In Orange County, a person drowns every 9 days and we want to work to reverse that trend,” said Felipe Delgado, Founder of Evolution Swim Academy. With drowning continuing to be the leading cause of death for infants and young children between the ages of 1-4 (http://www.cdc.gov/SafeChild/Drowning/), learning to swim should be considered a year-round initiative and not one that is seasonal.

Evolution Swim Academy Mission Viejo operates an indoor, air and water temperature controlled swim center, making for optimal learning conditions on a year-round basis. Currently, Evolution Swim Academy offers water acclimation lessons (Parent & Me), safety lessons, stroke development and stroke technique lessons in private, semi-private and small group class structures. Evolution Swim Academy is the official feeder program to the Gators Swim Club, one of the leading competitive swim clubs in Southern California.

Evolution Swim Academy Mission Viejo is already offering its services to the public, Monday – Friday (morning and afternoon/evening lessons) and Saturday morning. Evolution Swim Academy also operates out of Aliso Viejo, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Hills and Rancho Mission Viejo on a seasonal basis.
