With its unveiling in August 2015, the Norcross High School sports scoreboard and video display screen took the fan and student experience to new heights. The Formetco Sports screen expands the use of a typical football facility into a multi-venue facility that benefits the students, school and community.
The largest high school video display and its features
The new LED screen measures 29’5” by 51’5” and offers a sharp 1,513 square feet display. The near HD display features a high resolution screen with 518,400 pixels and over 1.5 million LED’s. The system is controlled by a state-of-the-art control system designed specifically for multi-function sports and event facilities. This particular LED screen project features four live video cameras providing various unique viewing angles for the video replay technology.
The new value proposition for educational facilities
Jim Shimmin, Formetco Digital General Manager, commented “We are introducing a new value proposition for educational institutions. Our belief is that a video display should serve the school as a whole. This asset provides real world, hands-on technical training opportunity for students, and an exciting experience for everyone in a package that can generate advertising revenue for the school.”
The system is designed for an operations crew of up to 12 students. This makes it easier to manage the otherwise complex situation of multiple inbound video feeds, advertising display, and game statistics updates. Inversely, the design flexibility enables simple events to be managed via wireless control by a single operator with an iPad. Regardless of the number of operators, the experience remains top notch.
Product and services that exceeded customer expectations
Norcross High School head football coach, Keith Maloof, said "It's amazing how it all came together. The end result far exceeded our expectations and we are extremely grateful to everyone involved. We had a few key contributors, of which Formetco was one that really came through big to make this happen for the school.” Besides building and installing the video display system, Formetco has also assigned staff to formally train the video production class on how to operate the high tech system. Formetco recognizes that customer service goes beyond delivering a high quality product with 24/7 technical support, Formetco believes that customer satisfaction is maximized with their commitment to training customers on how to get the most from their systems.
Scalable and energy efficient multi-media display systems
Formetco LED video display screen are created using a scalable, energy efficient design. The system eliminates the traditional need for cooling fans which significantly lowers electrical power consumption. With several other technological advancements, Formetco builds systems that have substantially less maintenance needs than conventional designs. By using a modular approach, Formetco video screens are scalable in size and dimension. A modular design allows customers to order screens of almost any size to fit in new construction or existing stadium designs. Formetco VP, Todd Heller stated that “Formetco has invested substantially in R&D to improve display quality and performance reliability while also making what we believe to be the most energy efficient product of its kind.”
