As part of its inaugural trip to the Little League World Series, the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Champion Red Land Baseball Team from Etters, Pennsylvania has come together to use this big stage to help kids battling cancer.
The team has joined forces with the Vs. Cancer Foundation and launched the Red Land Vs. Cancer campaign at http://www.pledgeit.org/red-land-vs-cancer.
Fans have the opportunity to pledge any dollar amount for every run the Red Land team scores during the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. You can also make a one-time flat donation to support their efforts in the fight against childhood cancers.
Proceeds from this PLEDGE IT campaign will benefit the Vs. Cancer Foundation in partnership with the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
“We thought it would be a nice gesture in order to take advantage of our 15 minutes of fame. What a great cause,” Red Land assistant coach Bret Wagner said. “If we can continue the offensive trend the way we have been, we can raise a lot of money for pediatric cancer, a very worthy cause.”
The Red Land Vs. Cancer campaign is being powered by a Central Pennsylvania based fundraising company. PLEDGE IT is a fully integrated online fundraising company founded by former Penn State football player Scott Shirley.
“I believe in the power of sport for social good,” Shirley said. “So I have a tremendous amount of respect for the Red Land Little League coaching staff for using this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help inspire kids with cancer and fund life saving research.”
