PromPeru, the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Board, together with world-famous chefs Virgilio Martinez of Central Restaurante, #4 on San Pellegrino’s 2015 World’s Best Restaurant List, and Hector Solis of Fiesta, one of the most popular fusion restaurants in Lima, will be the stars of the upcoming StarChefs International Chefs Congress, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. They will be joined by a number of Peruvian culinary talents and Peru’s greatest Pisco producers, who will delight palates and quench thirsts from October 25-27 at the PromPeru booth at the Brooklyn Expo Center (79 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, NY).

World-renowned chefs Virgilio Martinez and Hector Solis will demonstrate the best of traditional Peruvian cuisine while top Pisco makers surprise audiences with unexpected cocktail creations.

PromPeru, the Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Board, together with world-famous chefs Virgilio Martinez of Central Restaurante, #4 on San Pellegrino’s 2015 World’s Best Restaurant List, and Hector Solis of Fiesta, one of the most popular fusion restaurants in Lima, will be the stars of the upcoming StarChefs International Chefs Congress, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. They will be joined by a number of Peruvian culinary talents and Peru’s greatest Pisco producers, who will delight palates and quench thirsts from October 25-27 at the PromPeru booth at the Brooklyn Expo Center (79 Franklin Street, Brooklyn, NY).

On October 25, Virgilio and Hector will steal the show during their demonstration on the ICC Main Stage from 4-5pm, when they will teach audiences about pre-Inca cuisine. All day at the PromPeru booth, Marita Lynn Catering will serve up traditional Peruvian specialties like shrimp and artichoke ceviche and aji de gallina on mini parmesan baskets with a wild mushroom truffle oil drizzle, all accompanied by Barsol Pisco cocktails.

On October 26, Raymi Restaurant will delight palates with dishes like sweet and sour dumplings with pork, cilantro, cabbage, and scallions and pastel de choclo, Peruvian corn cake with roasted mushrooms and watercress. Peruvian star Pisco maker Machu Pisco will present unexpected cocktails to go along with Raymi’s culinary creations.

October 27 will see Surfish celebrity chef Miguel Aguilar prepare such dishes as pork humitas and octopus causitas, while Pisco maker Portón will mix unique cocktails with ingredients varying from lime and grapefruit juice to bitters and Aperol.

All of the culinary excitement and imbibing will be made possible by PromPeru, whose great dedication to its country’s cuisine led to the Organization of American States officially designating Peruvian food as part of the "cultural heritage of the Americas” in 2011. The country also won the title Best Culinary Destination at the World Travel Awards in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
