“It’s a great way for us to give back to our community and our guests, and it’s something we look forward to hosting each year.”

Planning for the 2nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is already underway and the Holiday Inn Resort Team couldn’t be more excited for the upcoming event. Last year, the Holiday Inn Resort Panama City Beach Florida invited their valued guests and the children from the local Boys and Girls Club to join them for their first Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. The event was a huge success and the team is ramping up for another incredibly fun holiday season.

The Holiday Inn Resort has always done a phenomenal job of decorating the resort, making it sparkle with the spirit of the season, and that will certainly hold true again this year, but in 2014 the resorts Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is what really made the season bright, and they’re looking to make the 2015 ceremony even more special.

“Our Resort Elves have been hard at work since last Christmas preparing and planning for this year’s lighting ceremony, and we couldn’t be more exciting to host this special event again this year.” Says Philip Colvin, Director of Marketing at the Holiday Inn Resort. “It’s a great way for us to give back to our community and our guests, and it’s something we look forward to hosting each year.”

This event will take place on November 30th and will be open to all of our resort guests, as well as the Panama City Beach Boys & Girls Club. Children will enjoy listening to D.J. Jim play all their Christmas favorites while they make Christmas Ornaments, decorate cookies, and get to meet Santa!

In the inaugural year of the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Holiday Inn Resort explored a slightly different take on giving. The attendees from the Panama City Beach Boys & Girls Club received a $25 Gift Card during the event that they were able to use to purchase gifts for their mom and dad, grandparents, or anyone of their choosing, so that they too can experience the joy of giving from the selection of the gift to the look on their loved ones who received it. This year, the resort is going to continue that program, and with help of the Boys & Girls Club leaders, they’re even able to expand upon this concept as the club will be taking a field trip to a local store where the children can select a gift to use their gift card on, then the club will host a fun event for the children to help teach them how to wrap the present they selected.

“One of the things that makes our resort team so special is that they enjoy the excitement and spirit of the holiday season all year long. You can find it in our Activities Team bringing joy by dancing and playing, or our Management Team checking up on all of our guests to make sure they’re all having an incredible vacation experience - we’re all here to create a wonderful atmosphere where families come together and enjoy spending time with one another, sharing experiences and laughter, and making memories.” Says Colvin. “When the holiday season comes around, our team members really relish in the spirit of giving, and it’s in that spirit that we came up with this fun new way to celebrate last year.”

Many local charities collect toys for kids, so the resort team knew that the kids will be able to have the joy of opening gifts, but so many of them haven’t been able to experience the other side, the excitement of choosing something special for someone they love, to experience the joy of giving. The Holiday Inn Resort came up with this fun event to help share the spirit of giving, and have a great time with local community members and guests.

The Resort Team hopes that all of the guests that are visiting on that day will join the fun and enjoy some hot chocolate, visit with Santa, enjoy the Christmas Music with D.J. Jim, and see the beautiful Christmas Tree light up to kick off a wonderful holiday season.
