Our goal is to make sure that Product Managers and Product Owners learn both the Agile and business skills to be highly successful.

The 280 Group is breaking new ground with a one-of-a-kind training course and certification for Product Managers and Product Owners. Unlike other courses that only teach the basics of how to be a Scrum Product Owner, the Agile Excellence for Product Managers and Product Owners training course includes all of the core Product Owner concepts and as well as Agile Product Management concepts. Students will learn the foundations of Agile, how a Product Manager and Product Owner should interact with each other and engineering teams, all training content found in Product Owner certification training courses plus Agile Product Management and team leadership skills.

Written by Agile expert Greg Cohen, author of the best-selling Agile Excellence for Product Managers book, the two-day course pairs extensive content and exercises in a small class setting to bring to life techniques needed to align Agile teams with market demands. At the end of the course, students will be prepared to take the online exam to earn the worldwide-standard Agile Certified Product Manager and Product Owner (ACPMPO) credential from the Association of Product Marketing and Management (AIPMM).

Agile has become an increasingly popular software development methodology and comes with its own unique set of challenges. In a recent survey by the 280 Group, 69% of companies are using Agile development methodologies. Of these companies 70% of Product Managers are also acting as Product Owners. With its breadth of content and highly interactive format, this course will transform how the Product Management and Product Ownership professions interact within Agile software development environments.

“Our goal is to make sure that Product Managers and Product Owners learn both the Agile and business skills to be highly successful,” said Brian Lawley, founder and CEO of the 280 Group. “Students will learn the skills needed to succeed with any flavor of Agile: Scrum, XP, Kanban Lean and Hybrid Agile processes. They’ll be dramatically more effective as an Agile Product Manager, Product Owner and strategic business person. The end result will be better software and products for consumers with a larger bottom lines for businesses worldwide.”

“The Agile Product Management and Product Ownership certification breaks new ground within the Agile community” said Therese Padilla, President of the AIPMM. “Earning this one-of-a-kind worldwide standard certification will show that you have mastered the necessary skills to work in any Agile development environment and will differentiate yourself from your peers while making you dramatically more effective.”

The course is available now for private onsite training and will be available publicly for the first time February 24-25, 2016 in San Jose, CA. It will also be available throughout the remainder of 2016 and beyond in multiple locations throughout the world. When delivered privately the course can be completely customized for teams or entire organizations.
