Attention Point, a leading health IT company committed to improving the diagnosis and management of ADHD, is pleased to support this year’s School Psychology Awareness week theme “Connect the Dots and THRIVE!” “DefiniPoint, a suite of online tools for the evaluation and management of ADHD, connects parents, teachers, and clinicians,” stated Sam English, PhD, founder & CEO of Attention Point. “This year’s National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) theme of connecting the dots is in line with DefiniPoint and we applaud the association for their continued commitment to helping children with ADHD thrive in all aspects of their life.”
“As a NASP member and DefiniPoint user I am thrilled to see the parallels in what NASP is championing and what DefiniPoint helps me accomplish” said Andrea Foutz, EdS. “With DefiniPoint I’m able to ‘connect the dots’ between a child’s behaviors at home with what the student’s teachers are observing in the classroom. This enables me to conduct a more robust ADHD evaluation.”
School psychologists play a vital role in helping to identify children with attention issues and to coordinate ADHD care between the teachers, parents, and clinicians. Importantly they work with teachers to help develop and implement intervention plans to manage children with ADHD during school hours. To help support the school community and children with ADHD, Attention Point has partnered with the national nonprofit organization, Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), to increase access to educational and ADHD management resources.
One of the programs that CHADD offers is the "Teacher to Teacher" program, a workshop that helps educators identify common ADHD-related learning problems and implement proven classroom techniques and interventions that enhance school success for students with ADHD. Through this alliance, Attention Point hopes to support school psychologists and teachers who are helping these students on a daily basis.
About Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is one of the most common childhood neurobehavioral disorders. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, parents report that approximately 11 percent or 6.4 million children ages 4 to 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD in the US and 82.5% of diagnosed children are receiving medication and/or treatment by a mental health professional. It is estimated that the annual direct cost of the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of ADHD in the US is approximately $30 billion.
