Skyline Eco-Adventures Zip 4 The Trees

Skyline Eco-Adventures, Hawaii’s award-winning zipline tour company and operator of the first zipline course in the United States, hosted its fifth-annual “Zip for the Trees” community event and fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 15th, 2015, at its Skyline Haleakala, Maui zipline course.

The 5th annual event was in support of Maui Children’s charities along with native reforestation on Skyline’s Haleakala, Maui zipline course located on Haleakala Ranch lands. Funds were raised by selling zipline tours that had guests zipping through towering eucalyptus trees on three exhilarating ziplines at Skyline’s original course on the slopes of Haleakala, including Maui’s only pendulum zipline reaching speeds of more than 45 miles per hour. Over 450 people were in attendance and all proceeds from the event benefited three local charities: The Children’s Justice Center, the Hui Malama Learning Center, and Maui Youth and Family Services. Over $8000 was raised from the event to support the three Maui Charities.

Event participants zip lined and planted native trees while enjoying live music from Paula Fuga, Mike Love, Kaena Elaban & Kalapana Kollars and the Kanekoa Band along with enjoying free pony rides from Maui Ponies and face painting for the Keiki, Shave Ice from Kona Shave ice and pizza from the Outrigger Pizza Company. Skyline employees and volunteers planted over 350 native trees including ʻAʻaliʻi. Ohi'a and Koa along with removing invasive species in a large-scale effort to restore the native Hawaii forest land.

Sponsors of the 2015 event included Haleakalā Ranch, Native Nursery, Plant-a-Wish, Kihei Compost, Maui Coffee Roasters, Flat Bread Company and Maui Ponies. For more information and to view photos from the event visit zipline.com/zip4thetrees
