The IntellaFlex Bypass Switch maintains high network availability by allowing traffic to flow unimpeded when in-line security tools lose power, have a software failure, degrade in performance, require security updates or are offline for maintenance.

APCON, a provider of intelligent network monitoring solutions, today announced its new IntellaFlex Bypass Switch. The optical 10G network bypass blade enables enterprise networks to remain functional and accessible, even if a security monitoring device fails.
“Businesses can’t afford the possibility of a single point of failure impacting mission-critical networks. The security and resiliency of tools is vital for avoiding network down time,” said Richard Rauch, president and CEO of APCON. “The IntellaFlex Bypass Switch maintains high network availability by allowing traffic to flow unimpeded when in-line security tools lose power, have a software failure, degrade in performance, require security updates or are offline for maintenance.”
APCON’s IntellaFlex Bypass Switch’s heartbeat functionality will automatically detect a faulty link and pass the data through the network, bypassing the appliance until it is back online. This ensures that in-line monitoring tools such as Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Firewalls or Data Loss Prevention (DLP) are no longer a single point of failure on a network.
Highest Port Density
With five optical network bypass ports, the IntellaFlex Bypass Switch has one of the highest 1RU port densities in the market. Its four advanced monitoring ports aggregate data streams and route filtered output streams to security tools to achieve maximum utility and efficiency. The Bypass Switch can support up to seven in-line security appliances.
The switch is shipped with APCON’s WebxR software, featuring convenient drag-and-drop functionality for managing connections and organizing diagrams, as well as an enhanced status screen that displays more detail about the system’s health. A network with multiple Bypass Switches can be managed with APCON’s TitanXR, a centralized management software with custom dashboards, reporting and batch upgrades, along with a companion mobile application.
