Today, the National Gay Pilots Association (NGPA) announced an expanded partnership with United Airlines for 2016 that will help advance the organization’s mission while creating new opportunities for its members. A long-time supporter, this new agreement positions United as the NGPA’s sole top-tier, ‘Diamond Level’ partner. The airline will also serve as presenting sponsor of the NGPA’s 2016 Winter Warm-Up event in Palm Springs, California.

“The National Gay Pilots Association closely reflects United’s working together culture – based on dignity, inclusion and respect,” said Greg Jones, the airline’s managing director of Diversity and Inclusion. “Supporting the NGPA and the dedicated pilots throughout its ranks is another way we can honor the diversity of our customers, employees and the communities we serve.”

As part of their partnership, NGPA and United will work together to develop and implement workplace inclusivity programs. United will also recruit NGPA members for jobs at the airline and award a Flight Operations scholarship to one pilot affiliated with the organization.

In 2015, the NGPA received more donations from airlines and aviation organizations than ever in its 25-year history. Since the NGPA began in 1990, donations have supported programs and scholarships to further LGBT equality within the aviation community, education and careers in aviation. Current sponsors include many airlines, aviation corporations and flight institutions that show year-round support to the NGPA’s mission.

“We are grateful for all of our sponsors for making our 25th year the most successful in supporting the LGBT aviation community,” said NGPA Executive Director David Pettet. “We are equally excited for our new relationship with United Airlines. Their generous contributions will help elevate our programs and provide even more opportunities to aspiring pilots.”
