“AFAC is a vital resource for Arlington families and we’re happy to support their mission to help our neighbors in need with dignified access to nutritious, supplemental groceries—free of charge,” said PSC President and CEO Stan Soloway.

Arlington, VA – December 3, 2015— At a time of year when helping neighbors and the spirit of giving ring true, JAMIS Software teams up with the Professional Services Council (PSC) once again to help Arlington neighbors in need.

Along with PSC and its members, JAMIS is striving to bring more holiday cheer to the Arlington families by encouraging food collection and donations for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) during PSC’s annual membership meeting on December 17.

The AFAC is a community-based non-profit that provides supplemental groceries to Arlington neighbors in need. AFAC serves an average of 2,200 families each week. The organization receives 65 percent of the food it distributes—including essential nutrition items such as eggs, milk, fresh produce, bread and oatmeal—from direct donations.

The ever-increasing high cost of living in the region often means that many families find it difficult to make ends meet. The AFAC reports that approximately 31,500 residents of Arlington County are considered to be food insecure with 7,000 of them currently being served by their organization. AFAC sees an acute need for donations during this time of year, because the number of families seeking assistance typically grows between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day

JAMIS strives to enrich the communities in which we conduct business and is committed to continuing to support to the Arlington community by encouraging participation and offering all who donate at the chance to win a raffle prize in return for their genorosity. In addition to contributions of food, financial donations can be made via cash, check or credit card.

“JAMIS admires the outstanding work AFAC does in our community throughout the year,” said President and CEO of JAMIS Software, Jeff Noolas,. “All of us at JAMIS want to raise awareness and provide our support to help our community fight hunger.”

“AFAC is a vital resource for Arlington families and we’re happy to support their mission to help our neighbors in need with dignified access to nutritious, supplemental groceries—free of charge,” said PSC President and CEO Stan Soloway.

AFAC is located at 2708 South Nelson Street in Arlington, VA. For more information about how to organize a food drive or donate, please visit afac.org
