"We are developing living spaces for people who care about their impact on our planet," says Brian Heather, founder of SolTerra.

SolTerra has won design board approval and construction is underway for its newest LEED Platinum-designed apartment building – Pike in Seattle. The company is a fast-growing design+build firm focused on reconnecting people with nature. SolTerra is creating some of the most sustainable, livable, and innovative mixed-use buildings in the Pacific Northwest.

The Pike mixed-use complex will include 60-units in a 6-story building with parking for residents, and secure bicycle spaces. The building includes 3-thousand square feet for ground-floor retail and a unique micro retail space.

“We are developing living spaces for people who care about their impact on our planet,” says Brian Heather, founder of SolTerra. “There is a huge disconnect between how we live in our cities and what we need, as human beings, for quality of life. At SolTerra, we look for ways for people to live sustainably, increase natural light and provide more access to green spaces.”

The Pike project includes an extensive indoor living wall, green roof, and solar on the roof and awnings. Pike features micro retail space on the ground floor, and a large lobby with an over-sized marine aquarium.

Pike design elements focus on sustainability. For example, anticipated energy use will be 30% less than typical new buildings built according to Washington Code; 4,000 square feet of vegetated eco-roof will insulate the roof and help manage storm water; drought tolerant landscaping and a high-efficiency irrigation system will reduce water demand for irrigation by nearly 70%.

SolTerra has several mixed-use projects underway in the Pacific Northwest. The Pike project on Capitol Hill in Seattle is expected to be completed by early 2017.
