Sees a 2 Percent Decrease In Job Postings for November 2015

Leading Financial Career Site, Shares Employment Trends from the Financial Jobs Industry Shares Finance Employment Trends, the leading employment website for financial careers, reports a decrease of 2 percent in the number of financial job postings to its site for the month of November 2015 compared to the previous month.

November’s decrease in the number of job postings marks a small drop from the 3.8 increase reported in October 2015. In September, the financial jobs website reported a 0.1 percent decrease in the number of job postings.

In comparison to the employment website’s decrease in job postings, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed a small increase of 0.17 percent in the number of financial jobs for the month, as reported in the Economic Situation Report on Friday, December 4, 2015.

The Economic Situation report revealed a gain of 14,000 jobs within the financial activities supersector for the month of November, with a gain of 11,000 jobs occurring in the finance and insurance sector, and 3,300 jobs within the real estate, rental and leasing sector. The supersector now sits at 8,183,000 jobs with an unemployment rate of 2.6 percent, an increase of 0.2 percent reported the month prior. Over the past 12 months, the supersector has added 141,000 jobs, with 78.3 percent of the reported job gains (110,500) occurring in the insurance carriers and related activities subsector.

Within the finance and insurance sector, insurance carriers and related activities once again gained the most for the month at 7,300 jobs, while securities, commodity contracts, investments, and funds and trusts gained 2,000 jobs. Credit intermediation and related activities gained 1,700 jobs.

Within the real estate, rental and leasing sector, the rental and leasing services subsector gained 1,800 jobs while real estate gained 1,600 jobs. Lessors of nonfinancial intangible assets lost 100 jobs last month.

Across all industries, total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 211,000 jobs while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5 percent. Over the last 12 months, employment growth has averaged 230,000 jobs per month. In November, job gains occurred in construction, professional and technical services, and health care.
