The Bensahli’s brothers had a record 5 films showcased at the Dubai International Film Festival 2015, held December 9th-16th, 2015. A clear and focused rising star, filmmaker Fayssal Bensahli knows exactly where he wants to take his craft. As a 21st-century filmmaker, he is passionate about making a wide range of films varying from fictional narratives to documentaries. Additionally, he has a host of international accolades under his belt, including being a Jury Prize Winner at the San Francisco Shorts Film Festival and having the first Emirati film in the New York Short Film Festival.
In his latest film Disheveled, he directed a talented ensemble in a psychological thriller for the 48-hour Film Project Competition. Aspiring to engage international audiences, Bensahli uses the power of visuals and subtext to engage moviegoers, holding them in suspense until the very end. The cinematic story in Disheveled is told through visuals in the minds of the two leading characters as they have a present-day conversation about past events. The short mesmerises audiences visually through deeply rooted subtext created by the award-winning cinematographer, Khaled Bensahli, Fayssal’s brother. Khaled is a diversified filmmaker; his films range from short film documentaries about refugees to the United Arab Emirates first action/thriller short film of its kind. Khaled’s films have also debuted at international film festivals such as DOCNYC, among others. Khaled is an extremely driven cinematographer who, along with Fayssal, is always creating new and innovative storytelling techniques. Visionary leaders in their craft, the Bensahli brothers were born to create innovative films.
