“Almost 50% of Americans made New Year’s resolutions that focused on healthier eating habits,” said Anne Pritz, Sbarro’s CMO. “We believe this pizza is a great choice for those customers who want a healthier option, but do not want to sacrifice taste.”

Sbarro, the international quick service restaurant best known for its XL New York style pizza by the slice, is bringing back its popular Garden Harvest Veggie pizza for the new year. The limited-time only flavor is a lighter take on the company’s famous pizza and will be available through March 2, 2016.

First introduced in 2015, the veggie pizza features fresh peppers, caramelized onions and roasted crimini mushrooms. Guests also have the option to add a side salad and diet soft drink to make it a combo meal for less than 500 calories.

“According to our consumer research, almost 50% of Americans made New Year’s resolutions that focused on weight loss or healthier eating habits,” said Anne Pritz, Sbarro’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We believe this pizza is a great choice for those customers who want a healthier option, but do not want to sacrifice taste.”

The company will continue to innovate with new limited edition menu flavors throughout the year.

In 2015, Sbarro announced launched rebranding efforts that included a new logo, remodeled eateries and a revised menu. Sbarro’s updated branding and menu focuses on fresh, quality ingredients, including dough that’s made in-house daily, 100% whole milk mozzarella cheese and Sbarro’s signature San Marzano-style tomato sauce.
