Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) packaged and distributed 5,965 pounds of non-perishable food and hygiene items for Food Bank of the Rockies as part of an annual Giving Drive. AP sponsored the drive and jobsites competed for which location could collect the most for the cause. In the end, employees came together to provide hundreds of meals for families in need.

Each donation box was designed to become a care package for a family in need. Over 300 boxes were packaged to give 300 families-in-need a box of non-perishable food items and common hygienic items. Over 50 AP employees packaged the boxes and loaded them into a waiting semi-truck trailer for delivery. The packaging event created opportunities for employees to implement creative lean methods on how to eliminate wastes in a production process while having fun.

“With the various charities AP supports, the Giving Drive is a favorite and it was amazing to see everyone look forward to the annual tradition and collect more food than the previous year,” said Tom Horsting, AP’s Regional Vice President. “There was a lot of laughter while everyone was stuffing boxes.”

The boxes as well as monetary donations collected were delivered to Food Bank of the Rockies, who provide food for more than 411,000 people annually. The Food Bank of the Rockies is one of the largest private hunger relief organizations in the Rocky Mountain Region that contributes 96 cents of every dollar towards food distribution. Delivering the donations to the Food Bank of the Rockies’ warehouse saved the nonprofit hundreds in fuel and labor costs. The AP Giving Drive is an annual event to support organizations that benefit the communities we live and work in.
