Compass Pointe in Coastal North Carolina

2016 Best North Carolina Community of the Year

Last year, Real Estate Scorecard honored Compass Pointe with a Bliss Award for Happiest Community of the Year. Real Estate Scorecard had several opportunities over the past year to spend time at the Leland North Carolina real estate development and attests that there are only a handful of real estate developers in the South who are put up on a pedestal by its property owners, like Bobby Harrelson and Bert Exum at Compass Pointe. Residents truly adore them and the entire staff.

What is it that makes Compass Pointe so special? Beyond the attractive resort-style amenities and convenient proximity to downtown Wilmington, we believe it’s the management’s unspoken commitment to exceed everyone’s expectations. Over 200 property owners have written reviews on Real Estate Scorecard's website about their level of satisfaction. Key comments that resonate are “the developer really listens to the residents” and the “developer can't be topped”.

Compass Pointe is designed with tropical resort-style theme in one of the top North Carolina coastal communities. Its 10,000 square foot clubhouse is called the Grand Lanai and is an incredible place to enjoy social gatherings. When the weather is nice, which is most of the time, the tall glass walls slide side-to-side creating an open-air mega ballroom. There is always something going on at the Grand Lanai. Amenities at the Grand Lanai include an Olympic-size swimming pool, a 7,000 square foot new fitness center, two tennis courts and a white sandy beach overlooking one of the many accent lakes.

Property owners seem to always be in a good mood living here. Common comments we read express how “everybody is so happy and grateful to be living here and shows in their laughs and smiles”. What is it that makes “stress levels drop as one drives through the gate”? It’s likely that property owners truly believe there’s “no place like home”.

Blissfulness is contagious at Compass Pointe. Try to drive through the 2,200 acre gated community and not receive a wave or friendly hello. It’s impossible. The Leland North Carolina real estate development is golf cart friendly, making it easy and fun to get around. The streets are wide and lead to roundabouts separating the various neighborhoods. It’s easy to get lost, but in a place like this, who cares? Folks can be sure a property owner will quickly come to the rescue. One property owner commented “my face is tired from smiling all day long, and my arms are tired of waiving. Everyone is so friendly that a mile walk can take hours because folks have to stop and chat with everyone that is passed”.

This spring, Compass Pointe will officially open its new Rick Robbins designed golf course. The golf course will have the full Audubon Signature status. The status requires focusing on wildlife management, habitat enhancement, waste management, energy efficiency, water quality and conservation, and pest management. The Pointe Golf Club will be one of the most unique and enjoyable courses to play in Southeastern North Carolina. It will offer scenic views, elevations rare to the coastal area, and flexible play opportunities to accommodate all skill levels. The course will have family tees on every hole allowing the course to be played as a Par 3.

The community continues to grow. In the planning process, new amenities include an indoor swimming pool, lazy river, splash park, outdoor garden terrace park, golf clubhouse, commercial village and much more. Approximately 550 homes have been built to date of the 2,500 planned. Buyers can stroll through almost a dozen model homes built by the best custom home builders in Wilmington NC, to collect home building and design ideas. No matter which home site and view folks choose, each of the builders can present buyers with options to translate into a dream home. Prices begin in the mid $300k’s, with most homes in the $400k's. If folks are searching for the finest North Carolina coastal communities, Real Estate Scorecard suggests folks start with the best.

As a benchmark in the real estate industry, it is Real Estate Scorecard's privilege to present Compass Pointe with the 2016 Bliss Award as the Best North Carolina Community of the Year.
