Wagner & Winick On the Law, a law-focused talk radio program broadcast from KSCO AM 1080 in Santa Cruz and KVEC AM 920 in San Luis Obispo, has been selected to join the VoiceAmerica.com internet radio network. Voice America Talk Radio Network, based in Phoenix, Arizona is the leading producer and online broadcaster of original live and on-demand talk radio programming worldwide. The online broadcast network reaches a domestic and international audience of millions of listeners every month in more than 140 countries worldwide.

Wagner & Winick On the Law is a weekly law-themed talk show co-hosted by Monterey and San Luis Obispo Colleges of Law Dean Mitchel Winick and law professor and trial attorney Stephen Wagner. Beginning in mid-April, Wagner & Winick On the Law will join the VoiceAmerica.com Business Channel program lineup on Thursday’s at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (Pacific).

This is the second syndication announcement for the rapidly expanding law-talk radio program in recent months. The program began national syndication in January on the BizTalk Radio Network (http://www.biztalkradio.com). The program is heard Saturday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. (Pacific) on BizTalk Radio’s national affiliate stations and locally along the California Central Coast on KSCO AM 1080 (Santa Cruz/Monterey) and KVEC AM 920 (San Luis Obispo/Paso Robles). The program is also replayed Sunday mornings at 7:00 a.m. on KSMX AM 1140 (Santa Maria/Santa Barbara).

“Who would have guessed two years ago when we were asked to try-out for a law-themed talk show on our local radio station that we would get the opportunity for national, and now international syndication,” said program co-host Mitch Winick. “I think that it shows that there is still a radio audience for intelligent content that provides more than conspiracy theories and alien abductions,” said Winick with a laugh.

“It is exciting to have the opportunity to reach a rapidly expanding Internet radio audience through our affiliation with VoiceAmerica.com,” said co-host Stephen Wagner. “In the modern digital age, having our program carried on an established Internet radio network such as VoiceAmerica.com is a perfect compliment to the traditional AM and FM stations that we reach through the BizTalk Radio affiliate network,” added Winick. “It is also a bit overwhelming to think that we also will be carried on a network that broadcasts in over 140 countries,” said Wagner.

The program has received great response during its first year and a half. The co-hosts select a law-related topic each week and invite an expert guest on-air to help discuss the issues with a focus on how they relate to the general public. “This program is not intended to provide legal advice,” said Wagner, a law professor at San Luis Obispo College of Law and trial attorney with Adamski Moroski Madden Cumberland and Green LLP in San Luis Obispo. “Our objective is to select current legal topics and have a meaningful conversation about them. Sometimes our goal is to challenge conventional opinions and other times we merely want to educate our listeners so that they are better informed,” said Wagner.

“Stephen and I believe that legal issues and public policy are interesting to everyone. You do not need to be a lawyer to realize that the law affects you every single day. Our objective is for listeners to leave our program better prepared to deal with the legal issues that arise in their business and personal lives,” said Winick.

Neither Wagner nor Winick had any previous experience hosting a radio program before launching Wagner & Winick On the Law in July of 2014. However, like many law professors, they have the ability to break down complex issues in a way that makes them interesting, understandable, and...even entertaining.
