Roller Coaster Race Kicks Off Season with 3rd Annual 5K/10K Event at Six Flags St. Louis
Charlottesville, VA (PRWEB) March 18, 2016 -- Registration is open for Roller Coaster Race, which returns to Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, MO for a 10K race, 5K run/walk, and Roller Coaster Ride on Sunday, May 1, 2016. The event encourages fitness and entertainment for the whole family by holding USATF-certified running events for all skill levels and ages in conjunction with the original-concept roller coaster event, Roller Coaster Ride.
The 10K race and 5K run/walk take place in the morning prior to the park opening. The race courses run through and around the park, featuring both up-close roller coaster views and natural wildlife. This combination makes the courses among the most unique running experiences in the country. The 10K race offers cash prizes for top finishers to draw the fastest runners from around the region.
During the day, the Roller Coaster Ride will be held for roller coaster enthusiasts and thrill-seekers. Participants will have their coaster rides tracked throughout the day as they attempt to ride a total distance of 5K on Six Flags St. Louis’ ten coasters.
Participants can register for a race, the Roller Coaster Ride, or both, and every event registration includes free admission to the theme park, a shirt, and finisher medal. The park will also offer an hour of exclusive ride time on several coasters to participants prior to the park opening to the public for the day.
Roller Coaster Race supports the following charities: the St. Louis Area Foodbank, SYTA Running for Youth, and the National Roller Coaster Museum & Archives. In addition to being able to fundraise for those organizations, participants can donate to the charities during event registration.
Adam Slate, Roller Coaster Race Director, says of the event, “The very first Roller Coaster Race was at Six Flags St. Louis, and the park continues to be an ideal setting for this event. It’s a beautiful venue, has tons of attractions, and the park staff is as friendly as you could want.”
“We are once again excited to be hosting the Roller Coaster Race here at Six Flags St. Louis,” states Park President, Peter Carmichael, “Courses through the park and roller coasters are the perfect way to combine fun and fitness into one unique, exhilarating experience.”
