Doug Milliken’s book, Testimony of The Protected - How One Lost Warrior Was Found, ($20.99, paperback, 9781498430470; $31.99, hardcover, 9781498430487; $9.99, e-book, 9781498430494) tells the author’s personal testimony – the story of how he was first protected from all the dangers associated with Vietnam War combat, to later be relentlessly pursued, and then saved in miraculous fashion. The story takes readers back to 1970 when Milliken served as an infantryman in Vietnam. As an eighteen year old with an underdeveloped faith, he was suddenly and unexpectedly drafted into the military. Within months, he was thrust into combat, face-to-face with vicious communist guerillas, in a situation where death meant not just the end of life, but the eternal separation from God. The author eloquently brings to life his unique late-life experience of being pursued by God and saved in miraculous fashion. From this perspective, Doug Milliken looks back from the autumn of his life and recalls in detail what it was like to cope with the fears inherent in mortal combat, as a young man devoid of any spiritual component.
“It is my hope that readers will come away with a connection to what it felt like to be drafted into the military and to struggle with the fear that came with combat,” states the author. “I also hope that they understand what it felt like to be the object of God's miraculous plan for saving one of His lost.”
Because many of the stories in this book have never been told in full, Milliken’s testimony sets the record straight, fully and honestly giving his perspective on one man's salvation experience, and the protection experience in combat that preserved him for that salvation. To enhance this well written book, the author included over 30 high quality color photos to help readers understand the impact of his experiences.
