-- News service for cord cutters brings continuously running news channels to the Sony TV programming guide --

“As the Android TV platform enables more and more OTT content options, we are pleased to partner with Haystack TV on Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs,” said Nick Colsey, Vice President of Business Development of Sony Visual Products.

San Francisco Bay Area media technology startup Haystack TV is launching the second version of its Android TV app at this year’s NAB show in Las Vegas. In version 2.0, Haystack TV integrates its video content into Sony TV’s programming guide through the “Live Channels” interface for Android TV. Video content from categories including current events, business news, and science & technology will be shown to viewers as individual streaming channels alongside other live and on-demand content from traditional broadcast and internet sources.

“This integration allows Sony 4K Ultra HD TV users to channel surf as they would on traditional TVs, while also taking advantage of personalized on-demand content that’s a growing part of digital smart TVs,” said Haystack TV CEO Daniel Barreto. “We want to empower cord cutters to watch the news they care about, and we believe personalization technologies and smart TVs will play a big role in advancing the future of TV news.”

“As the Android TV platform enables more and more OTT content options, we are pleased to partner with Haystack TV on Sony 4K Ultra HD TVs,” said Nick Colsey, Vice President of Business Development of Sony Visual Products.

Haystack TV 2.0 also features a new design that lets users browse the day’s news clips without interrupting what is currently playing, allowing for an optimal lean-back experience. Viewers can also search for stories on specific subjects and add favorite sources and topics to build a more personalized headline news channel.
