Physical therapy group will provide functional movement screens, giveaway prizes at April 18th event

There’s discomfort associated with the aging process, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I look forward to sharing some tips and tricks with the Kernersville community that will hopefully alleviate some of those aches and pains.

BreakThrough Physical Therapy (BTPT) is pleased to announce they will be a supporting sponsor of the Kernersville Family YMCA’s 13th annual Healthy Active Adults Day on April 18, 2016.

Designed to provide active older adults with information regarding healthy living, nutrition, fitness and wellness, and how to plan for the future, Healthy Active Adults Day will be held from 10 AM to 2 PM with product and service exhibits, entertainment, mobile mammography, and free information seminars.

At the event, BreakThrough Physical Therapy Kernersville’s Clinic Manager Drew Schlabach, PT, DPT, OCS, will provide free Functional Movement Screenings and Y-Balance Tests, which will allow him to identify strengths and weaknesses in the body. The 30 second sit-to-stand test measures lower body strength and can help identify individuals who may be at risk for future injury. The BTPT team will recommend corrective exercises for those at a higher risk that can help decrease the chance of injury. Additionally, BTPT will raffle off a gift card from their booth and hand out cozies, water bottles, and free screen cards.

“We are thrilled to be sponsoring the Kernersville Family YMCA’s Healthy Active Adults Day,” said Dr. Schlabach. “There’s discomfort associated with the aging process, but it doesn’t have to be that way. I look forward to sharing some tips and tricks with the Kernersville community that will hopefully alleviate some of those aches and pains.”

Those interested in registering for the event should visit the Kernersville Family YMCA at 1113 W. Mountain Street, email j(dot)jonczak(at)ymcanwnc(dot)org, or call 336.996.2231.

Those who are unable to attend the event but would like to book at Functional Movement Screen with Dr. Schlabach or one of the other expert physios at BreakThrough Physical Therapy Kernersville should call (336) 310-0750.
