Cstraight Media, a Reston, Virginia-based full-service digital agency, announced today that it has been nominated for Best Travel Website in the 20th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. IADAS, which nominates and selects The Webby Award Winners, is comprised of Web industry experts, including Tumblr founder, David Karp, Executive Creative Director at Refinery29, Piera Gelardi, Musicians Questlove & Grimes, Head of Fashion Partnerships at Instagram, Eva Chen, Twitter Co-Founder, Biz Stone, Jimmy Kimmel, and and creator of the .gif file format, Steve Wilhite.

“Nominees like Cstraight are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the almost 13,000 entries we received this year.”

In addition to being nominated for a Webby Award in the Websites / Travel category, Cstraight’s work on Seastreak’s web presence was also awarded Honoree status for the Mobile Sites & Apps / Best Practices and Websites / Best User Experience categories. This signifies that the Seastreak website was considered to be among the top 10 submissions in the respective categories.

“We set out to design and build a website that’s highly functional and easy to use for Manhattan commuters that need complex information immediately, while also designing a beautiful experience that shows how fun and relaxing your daily commute can be when you take a Seastreak ferry,” said Thomas Wear, Partner and Chief Strategy Officer of Cstraight Media. “The data’s back, and we did it! Seastreak ticket sales have increased, service calls decreased, their customers love it, and now the website has been named as a top 5 best in Travel! It shows how a small agency in the Virginia and DC community can make a big impact on people and businesses around the world through smart digital solutions.”

The 20th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 13,000 entries from nearly all 50 states and 65 countries worldwide. Webby Winners are selected by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a global organization of industry experts and technology innovators. The online public also chooses The Webby People’s Voice Winners by casting ballots for their favorite Nominees during the annual voting period.

This announcement marks the second time that Cstraight’s work has garnered a nomination for a Webby Award, and the second and third times it has garnered an honoree status. In 2014 Cstraight won the Webby Award for Websites / Car Sites & Car Culture with their work on the AARP Top Ten Technologies For Mature Drivers, and was granted an Honoree selection for their redesign of the Washington, DC-based bicycle shop The Daily Rider.

Winners will be announced on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 and honored at a star-studded ceremony on Monday, May 16, 2016 at Cipriani on Wall Street in New York City. There they will have an opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards’ famous 5-Word Speeches. Past 5-Word Speeches include: Steve Wilhite’s “It’s Pronounced “Jif” not ‘Gif’; Stephen Colbert’s “Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.”; and Björk ‘s “A E I O U.”
