Roosevelt Elementary of West Bloomfield Earns Grand Championship at SAE International’s 5th Annual AWIM International Motorized Toy Car Competition

SAE International announces that Roosevelt Elementary (Team #10) of the West Bloomfield School District was the Grand Champion of the 5th Annual A World In Motion® (AWIM) International Motorized Toy Car Competition, which was held Tuesday, April 12, during the SAE 2016 World Congress.

SAE International announces that Roosevelt Elementary (Team #10) of the West Bloomfield School District was the Grand Champion of the 5th Annual A World In Motion® (AWIM) International Motorized Toy Car Competition, which was held Tuesday, April 12, during the SAE 2016 World Congress.

The Motorized Toy Challenge, which was hosted by SAE International and sponsored by Honeywell and Henkel was created as a friendly competition where students (in Engineering Design Teams of three or four) competed in a variety of engineering design competitions that demonstrated the classroom-based AWIM experience they engaged in for the weeks leading up to the competition.

  • 1st – Bates Academy #24 (Detroit Public Schools)
  • 2nd – Roosevelt Elementary #12 (West Bloomfield)
  • 3rd – Munger Elementary-Middle #19 (Detroit Public Schools)

30° Ramp Competition

  • 1st – Roosevelt Elementary #10 (West Bloomfield)
  • 2nd – St. Edith #1 (Archdiocese of Detroit)
  • 3rd – Mackenzie Elementary-Middle #31 (Detroit Public Schools)

Speed

  • 1st – Mackenzie Elementary-Middle #33 (Detroit Public Schools)
  • 2nd – Munger Elementary-Middle #19 (Detroit Public Schools)
  • 3rd – St. Edith #1 (Archdiocese of Detroit)

Obstacle Course

  • 1st – Bates Academy #24 (Detroit Public Schools)
  • 2nd – International Technology Academy #5 (Pontiac)
  • 3rd – Munger Elementary-Middle #21 (Detroit Public Schools)
