Cucina Americana is the second location opened by Chef Jeffrey Wilson of the famous Americana Restaurant in Capitol Hill. His newest location and concept in Maple Leaf is rustic Italian. Chef Derek May stays true to the Americana motto of locally sourced, organic, house made fares, with rotating specials and amazing cocktails.

The owner of Capitol Hill restaurant Americana has announced the grand opening of his second restaurant, Cucina Americana, located at 9400 Roosevelt Way NE in Seattle’s Maple Leaf neighborhood. Cucina Americana is now open for service spring 2016.

During his search for a new Americana location in Seattle, executive chef Jeffrey “Cheffrey” Wilson discovered this charming space in the Maple Leaf neighborhood. It was occupied by a small Italian restaurant, which inspired the “Cucina” aspect of his new venture. The menu is inspired by home cooked, rustic Italian cuisine. It puts an Italian twist on the American comfort food that Americana is known for. Dishes and ingredients will rotate seasonally, and brunch will be the same beloved menu as the original Americana location. The cocktail menu focuses on Amaro, Italy’s favorite liqueur, with pairings and tastings available. Happy hour is daily from 5-6pm. There will be half priced wine by the glass on Tuesdays and $1 oysters on Wednesdays.

Cucina Americana is family-friendly and available to rent out for private parties. The capacity is 59 seated plus five at the bar. Reservations are available for dinner and brunch accepts walk-ins only.

Introducing Chef Derek May, he was born and raised in Arizona by a family of bar and restaurant owners from Detroit. It was May’s abundant energy (and his grandmother) that inspired him to cook professionally. After spending five years as a sous chef in San Francisco, May moved to Seattle and took a position as Chef de Cuisine at Quinn’s Pub on Capitol Hill, where he worked for the next two years. In 2011, May went to work with Ethan Stowell at How to Cook a Wolf and Anchovies and Olives until he left in 2015. He is now creating amazing dishes at Cucina Americana.
