Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP), one of the nation’s leading general contractors, is proud to be among the national co-sponsors of Safety Week 2016, May 2 through May 6. In addition, all AP jobsites across the country will participate in Safety Week and work toward eliminating worker injuries.

“The safety activities on each jobsite are all designed to stress the importance of our personal safety for those who count on us,” added Whitney. “The greatest responsibility for each of us is to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all workers.”

Safety Week is an annual industry-wide initiative organized by more than 40 national and global construction firms representing the Construction Industry Safety Initiative (CISI) and the Incident and Injury-Free (IIF) CEO Forum. These companies have joined forces with one purpose: to inspire everyone in the industry to be leaders in safety. Statistics show that each year, more than 80,000 workers are injured on construction sites across the U.S.

Safety Week 2016 has been given the theme, “We are Stronger & Safer Together,” highlighting the importance of collaborating across the industry to promote safety and eliminate worker injury.

“Safety on the jobsite is the cornerstone of success for all companies,” said Rick Whitney, CEO of AP. “Although we all compete, we all share the same goal in wanting to make sure our workforce goes home safely each night. Safety Week 2016 reminds us that by standing together we can eliminate accidents and save lives.”

The collective mission of Safety Week 2016 is to partner together in: thanking workers for supporting safety and recognizing efforts to be injury free; increasing awareness of the importance of being committed to safety every day; inspiring all participants to share best practices and work together in strengthening the industry’s safety culture; celebrating the need to be injury free; and conducting on-site safety awareness activities.

Safety Week activities will take place every day on all AP jobsites coast to coast. Teams will conduct events such as equipment training sessions, crisis management drills and fall protection demonstrations. Specific safety topics will also be discussed throughout the week.

“The safety activities on each jobsite are all designed to stress the importance of our personal safety for those who count on us,” added Whitney. “The greatest responsibility for each of us is to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all workers.”
