We are excited to be here in Texas on John Wayne Day and equally thrilled that we are able to kick-off the Show Your Grit campaign in a place that is so special to our family and to the Foundation
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) May 26, 2016
John Wayne Cancer Foundation (JWCF), whose mission is to bring courage, strength, and grit to the fight against cancer, today kicks off its ‘Show Your Grit’ campaign on John Wayne Day in Texas, with celebrations continuing at the Texas Rangers baseball game on May 27. The initiative will run from May 26, 2016, through June 19, 2016, and seeks to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation’s efforts to find a cure. People are asked to join the campaign by posting to social media using the hashtag #ShowYourGrit, by sharing stories of people who demonstrate grit in the face of cancer, and by making a direct donation.
At the Rangers baseball game on May 27, the Foundation will provide free John Wayne inspired swag, a post-game fireworks display and appearances by members of the Wayne family. The campaign will culminate on Father’s Day, June 19, with a special screening of the Western fan favorite True Grit shown in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and select other metropolitan cities.
“We are excited to be here in Texas on John Wayne Day and equally thrilled that we are able to kick-off the Show Your Grit campaign in a place that is so special to our family and to the Foundation,” said JWCF chairman Ethan Wayne. “The John Wayne Cancer Foundation was established to honor the legacy of my father and the many others like him who fought cancer with courage, strength, and grit. With this new campaign, we hope to activate a new generation of John Wayne cancer fighters who will continue to search for a cure, and stand together as part of a greater community of support.”
Individuals who are interested in participating are invited to post to social media throughout the duration of the campaign using the hashtag #ShowYourGrit and are encouraged to challenge their friends to get involved by tagging them in their posts. Through these posts, the initiative hopes to create a community of support where participants feel like they are part of a larger fight. The campaign will also serve as a direct fundraiser for JWCF programs; each time the hashtag is utilized, an anchor partner will donate to the Foundation. All money raised will work to support the innovative programs funded by JWCF focusing on their priority areas of Research, Education, Awareness, and Support.
