ATLANTA (PRWEB) July 07, 2016
The Atlanta office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP participated in the 17th annual ServiceJuris Day June 18, represented by a team of more than 50 people including attorneys, business staff, and their family members. This year’s ServiceJuris, a day of service provided by Georgia’s legal community, supported six sites in east Atlanta: Indian Creek Elementary; the IRC; New American Pathways; Clarkston Community Center; Jolly Avenue Garden; and the Friends of Refugees Women’s Center and Preschool.
For its part of the effort, Greenberg Traurig completed projects throughout the Clarkston community including mulching, building picnic tables, making repairs, and painting. In addition, volunteers went into the community and knocked on doors to tout the resources available in the employment center and computer lab.
Greenberg Traurig attorneys were also represented on the leadership committee. Ritu Kelotra, an associate in the Products Liability Group, and Kristin Aquino-Pham, an associate in the Immigration Practice, served as steering committee members. Aquino-Pham also served as the event’s fundraising chair.
“This was my first year serving on the ServiceJuris steering committee, and Greenberg Traurig had its highest number of volunteers ever. The enthusiasm is a testament to how important it is to the firm to be visible in the community,” Kelotra said. “While making new friendships, we worked together to bring beautiful grounds and buildings to Friends of Refugees in the Clarkston community, one of the most diverse in the country.”
“The annual ServiceJuris event is one of the best examples of Greenberg Traurig’s ongoing effort to make an impact in our community,” said Ted Blum, managing shareholder of the Atlanta office. “The firm places special emphasis on education and youth as an area of giving, and it is because of the generosity of our team that we are able to continue making a difference in the lives of those in need.”
Across Georgia’s legal community, 350 volunteers from more than 30 participating law firms and legal services companies turned out for the event. Throughout the history of ServiceJuris Day, thousands of volunteers have contributed more than 20,000 hours of service on projects including enriching the learning environments of public school students, renovating neighborhood parks, and enabling citizens to utilize their community centers.
