Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) July 14, 2016
Representative Debbie Mayfield was named the 2016 Legislator of the Year last week by the Community Advocacy Network (CAN), a statewide not-for-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to educating and assisting the millions of Floridians who live in common interest ownership communities, with the primary purpose of protecting and preserving their unique lifestyle.
“I am honored to receive the Legislator of the Year award from the Community Advocacy Network,” said Representative Debbie Mayfield. “I have enjoyed working with and supporting CAN since I have been elected to office. Community association legislation arises every single year and it can greatly affect the 9 million residents living in community associations in the state of Florida.”
The award is presented annually by CAN to a legislator who has exhibited outstanding public service and support of the Community Advocacy Network by promoting positive legislation and protecting the interests. “We are proud to recognize Representative Debbie Mayfield as a true champion in providing leadership on issues affecting anyone in the Community Association industry,” said Alan Garfinkel, CAN Chairman. “Representative Mayfield was instrumental in the win against the bad Legislation we faced this past legislative session and I am glad we are able to recognize her hard work and achievements.”
Since its inception in 2007, CAN has created and promoted positive community association legislation, advised legislators about the everyday challenges facing all types of shared ownership communities, and provided the tools and resources needed to overcome those challenges.
Representative Mayfield is a member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 54th District, which includes Indian River County and Northern St. Lucie County, since 2012. Mayfield is currently Chair of the Business and Regulation Subcommittee for the House of Representatives. She also serves on the Agriculture & Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee, Energy & Utilities Subcommittee, Justice Appropriations Subcommittee and the Regulatory Affairs Committee. Representative Mayfield is a Candidate for Florida State Senate District 17.
