airberlin is launching new service from Orlando to Dusseldorf in summer 2017

airberlin is continuing to strengthen its long-haul operation to the United States with the addition of five weekly flights from Orlando to Dusseldorf as of May 6, 2016. This further reinforces the increasing importance of the hub in Dusseldorf and the long-haul network to North America. The flights conveniently connect to many destinations within the airline’s global network.

Stefan Pichler, Chief Executive Officer airberlin, says: “Orlando is a valuable addition to our existing strong Florida-portfolio because the city is a major convention destination which bears a high potential in the business travel segment.

"airberlin has already seen a strong expansion of its US network this year as we added two new destinations and several frequencies to our existing US network. The further expansion of our US operations as of summer 2017 including the new flights from Orlando shows that we are determined to continue on our path to position airberlin as a premium network carrier with a strong US footprint and an excellent proposition even for the most discerning business traveller.

“At our hubs in Dusseldorf and Berlin airberlin is the carrier with the highest number of flights to the US already this year. By further enhancing our long-haul network we continue to strengthen our leading market position and sharpen our profile as a network carrier with a highly attractive portfolio”, Stefan Pichler adds.

In total, airberlin flies nonstop from eight US-destinations in summer 2017 to Dusseldorf and Berlin: Orlando (new), Miami, Fort Myers, New York (JFK), Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The new flights from Orlando bring the total number of weekly flights from the three destinations in Florida up to 19 in summer 2017.

All Airbus A330-200 operating these flights are equipped with airberlin’s premium long-haul product: 19 seats in the exclusive FullFlat Business Class section and 271 Economy Class seats, including 46 XL Seats, which offer around 20 per cent more legroom.
