Dr. McClellan draws on his service as FDA Commissioner (2002-2004), and then Administrator of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (2004-2006) when the agency launched Medicare Part D, creating a new prescription drug benefit for America’s seniors.

A fellow of the Brookings Institution, Dr. McClellan was named the inaugural director of the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy in October 2015, and was appointed to the Robert J. The agenda for the ACO Coalition features emergent topics in delivery system reform and nationally known innovators. Sessions will include:

  • A multi-stakeholder workshop featuring the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers, which developed some of the first methods to track high healthcare utilization.
  • A two-part presentation for providers on implementing the Medicare Access & CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA).
  • A panel in our Series 2020, featuring AJMC co-editors Michael Chernew, PhD, of Harvard; and A. Mark Fendrick, MD, of the University of Michigan and its Center for Value-Based Insurance Design.

“The ACO Coalition continues to attract the most important leaders in delivery system reform,” said Coalition and meeting chairman Anthony Slonim, MD, DrPH, who is president and CEO of Renown Health of Reno, Nevada. “What sets the Coalition apart, however, is the opportunity to learn both from experts and from the others attending the meeting.”

Dr. Slonim previously served as executive vice president and chief medical officer for Barnabas Health in New Jersey, which has now merged to become RWJBarnabas.
