SAE 2016 Convergence offers attendees the opportunity to participate in professional development seminars during their show September 19-21, 2016. Taking place on September 21, attendees can participate in Wireless Communications in the Autonomous Connected Vehicle or Autonomous Vehicle Positioning Systems.

The seminars include:

Wireless Communications in the Autonomous Connected Vehicle

Wireless communication is a key enabler for vehicle connectivity. This seminar provides participants with an engineering overview of the various technologies that comprise a wireless communication system as it relates to automotive and commercial vehicle applications. It is intended to develop the skill set necessary for an educated understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to Connected Vehicles and connected applications. By attending this seminar from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, seminar participants will be able to describe the technical challenges relating to wireless communications, identify and compare the different components of a wireless communication system, develop a first-hand experience on connected vehicles through V2V and V2I demonstrations, identify the key automotive/commercial vehicle wireless communications forums dealing with standardization/regulation and business opportunities and recognize the role, both current and future, connected vehicle technologies will play in our collective future. Autonomous Vehicle Positioning Systems

This seminar addresses vehicle positioning and navigation systems. The first part of the seminar provides an overview of the Global Positioning System (GPS) since it is the main location technology enabler for automotive location-based applications. The second part will discuss GPS modes of positioning and the third will feature GPS integration into vehicles and with other sensors. By attending this seminar from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, attendees will be able to specify the performance of GPS receivers and navigation systems, evaluate the performance of GPS receivers and navigation systems, integrate the GPS with other sensors via a Kalman filter to improve navigation availability, and select the appropriate implementation of a vehicle navigation system based on your application requirements.
