Haag-Streit UK (HS-UK), the leading manufacturer and distributor of gold-standard optometry and ophthalmic equipment, is pleased to announce the launch of the Welch Allyn Insight Binocular Indirect Ophthalmoscope (BIO).

The new Welch Allyn BIO is the lightest on the market, weighing just under 500 grams. It allows enhanced workflow and efficiency, with illumination controls integrated into the optical system for convenient and hassle-free adjustment.

The product utilises Welch Allyn’s ‘ColourSoft’ bright, white LED technology which is optimised within the colour spectrum for enhanced patient comfort. The ergonomic ‘Flip-up’ optical system contains an energy-saving design which turns off as soon as the system is flipped up. The design also eliminates the need for an overband and helps ease adjustment during an examination.

The Welch Allyn BIO includes a lightweight, rechargeable lithium battery pack, ensuring that no cords will impede movement during an examination. The device also boasts an exclusive 10-year, industry-leading instrument warranty.

Sam Laidlaw, HS-UK Product Manager, said, “We are delighted to have the Welch Allyn BIO as part of the HS-UK product portfolio. The Insight is a fully-featured device that provides an enhanced ergonomic design, combined with fantastic energy efficiency and is the latest offering in a line of World-class ophthalmic instruments.”
