Kristin Bronson, a partner at law firm Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP, was appointed as Denver’s new City Attorney today by Mayor Michael B. Hancock. A respected litigator with more than 20 years of experience, Bronson will be sworn in on Oct. 17.
As City Attorney, Bronson will provide legal representation to Denver city officials, departments, agencies, boards and commissions, and oversee some 200 attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff. The appointment was announced during a news conference at the Denver City and County Building.
“Kristin is a brilliant and innovative lawyer,” Mayor Hancock said. “Her expertise and legal acumen will allow her to lead one of the largest public law offices in the state. This is a vital role within city government and I have no doubt she will provide us with the highest quality of counsel and representation.”
Bronson's practice at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie focuses on complex business litigation, including representation of individual and corporate plaintiffs and defendants in class and derivative actions, and representation of local and national corporate entities in contract, fraud and other business and real estate litigation. She is co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate Industry Team and active in firm leadership.
“It’s a tremendous honor to return to public service under the leadership of Mayor Hancock. It will be a privilege to work alongside the talented team of lawyers and staff in the City Attorney’s Office.” Bronson said. “I’m inspired by their commitment to the mission of this great city and look forward to contributing to their success.”
“Kristin’s commitment to serving her clients will be an asset to the City of Denver. She has a long history of leadership in Denver-area legal and civic organizations, and will administer the office with professionalism and authority,” said Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie Managing Partner Kenneth Van Winkle Jr. “We’re very happy for Kristin as she joins the growing list of firm alumni in public service.”
Bronson currently serves on the Board of Denver Downtown, Inc., as chair of the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Economic Development Council, as president of the Colorado Women’s Bar Association Foundation and is a member of the Faculty of Federal Advocates, Inc. Appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter, she was a member of Colorado Real Estate Commission for six years, including serving as chair.
Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie Executive Committee Chair Fred Baumann added, “In addition to her active trial practice, Kristin brought significant value and perspective to our Executive and Strategic Planning Committees. We will miss her at our firm, but we are thrilled that her talents will continue to be utilized here in Denver to benefit our community.”
“After being with the firm for 20 years, I will certainly miss the close relationships and successes we’ve celebrated with clients and colleagues. I expect a smooth transition both for the firm and with the City as I move into my new position,” added Bronson.
In addition to her current responsibilities at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie, Bronson has been a member of the firm’s Executive and Strategic Planning Committees, and helped drive the firm’s diversity efforts as Hiring Partner for five years.
