There’s always been a deep connection between apples and education, and with Apples4Ed we bring it to life by pairing the health benefits of eating apples with supporting students and schools nationwide.

Want to support healthy bodies and healthy minds? Take part in the “Buy an Apple, Help a Student” fundraising program featuring the U.S. apple industry and partner brand Marzetti® providing financial support to student projects every time a person shares a photo snacking on an apple or apple product.

Now through Nov. 12, visit to read quick profiles of student causes] – 17 classroom projects in need of funding that range from improved school gardens and creative book club programs to updated technology, additional science equipment and enhanced resources for teachers. Supporting these causes takes four simple and healthy steps:

1.    Snack: Grab an apple, apple juice, applesauce and/or delicious Marzetti product.
2.    Snap: Take a picture enjoying the snack.
3.    Tag: Find a school cause at Tag your photo with #Apples4Ed + the school’s unique hashtag.
4.    Share: Vote for your fave school cause by uploading pics to your public Instagram or Twitter account. For those without a public account, pics may be uploaded through the site.

For every vote, U.S. Apple Association (USApple) – representing the U.S. apple industry—will pledge financial contributions to nominated projects to help them reach their goals. Individuals can vote as often as they desire; each pic individuals upload enjoying apples, apple products and/or Marzetti products counts as a vote.

Throughout the program, USApple will encourage participation with weekly drawings in which participants can win prizes from USApple members and Marzetti, including $100 gift cards for themselves and an additional $100 in funds donated directly to their favorite school project. While helping schools, people can help themselves by visiting for helpful facts about apples’ many health benefits and a variety of apple recipes.

In December, USApple will announce the level of funding each of the 17 school causes will be awarded. The top three school causes with the most votes will receive the highest amount of funding.

“There’s always been a deep connection between apples and education, and with Apples4Ed we bring it to life by pairing the health benefits of eating apples with supporting students and schools nationwide,” said Wendy Brannen, Director, Consumer Health and Public Relations, USApple. “We encourage everyone to visit, check out these meaningful student causes, and place a vote for the schools nearest them or the program they feel matters the most. During last year’s inaugural program, we received more than 20,000 votes. We hope for even more in 2016!”
