2% of auto accidents involved bicycles

Local attorney Richard Fitzpatrick wants to make biking safer for Boston area youth. A 2014 statistic states that around 2% of auto accidents involved bicycles, and the most severe injuries are sustained to the head. Fitzpatrick & Associates aims to be a part of the solution to this problem by encouraging crucial safety habits for children.

The firm has partnered with a local bike shop chain, Landry’s Bicycles ( to create a bicycle helmet safety campaign for kids in the Boston metro area. The idea is very simple. When parents buy a child’s bike in-store at any of the seven Landry’s Bicycles locations, they are eligible for a free helmet. They can either print out a coupon from the information page on the Fitzpatrick & Associates website (, and present it at the time of purchase, or they can mail the receipt to the law firm, along with a PayPal enabled email address to be reimbursed.

Fitzpatrick & Associates hopes that this will greatly reduce serious injuries from bicycle accidents in the Boston area, making cycling a more enjoyable and safe activity for the entire family. The campaign has already begun, launching on October 7th, but it will run through Sunday, October 16th, giving residents two full weekends to participate in the campaign.
