Join us on the red carpet at Beach Dancer Films headquarters in Marina del Rey, located just three blocks south of the Venice Pier for a Filmmakers’ Marathon. The inaugural Silicon Beach Film Festival, in conjunction with the Playa Vista Film Festival, opens on October 22nd. It takes place just one week prior to the 47th anniversary of the birth of the internet at UCLA. In this marathon festival, films will be shown back to back over 12 hours. According to Festival Programmer Peter Greene, “There should be something for everyone.” The festival opens at 11am with a ribbon cutting at Beach Dancer Films with The Venice Chamber of Commerce & The Venice Media District.
The Silicon Beach Film Festival & Playa Vista Film Festival both serve as a gathering place for filmmakers, artists, innovators, and the global creative community. Additionally, they provide a venue for independent films to gain exposure. Through programs that embrace storytelling in all of its expansive forms – from film and music to online work, these film festivals celebrate the cinematic experience. These film festivals support emerging and established voices, discover award-winning filmmakers, both experienced and up-and-coming alike, curate innovative and interactive experiences, and introduce new technology and ideas. “Silicon Beach and Playa Vista has become one of the largest technology hubs in the world. And offers Independent Filmmakers a great venue to screen in Los Angeles ” says Jon Gursha Silicon Beach Film Festival Director.
The Silicon Beach & Playa Vista Film Festivals are in their inaugural year of screening films in Marina del Rey at the beach. They are managed and run by the same organization behind the Culver City Film Festival, and The Marina Del Rey Film Festival. We are proud that we could put together a festival kickoff launch event and have a great team in place with Jon Gursha as Festival Director, Sandie West as Co-Producer, Peter Greene as Festival Programmer and Marketing Director Eric Vollweiler. December 6-10th is the 3rd Annual Culver City Film Festival which brings together a diverse group of filmmakers to share recent work and recognize local talent in a city that is celebrated for it’s cinematic history and cultural depth. The Silicon Beach Film Festival is owned and operated By Jon Gursha and is a registered trademark.
