As a merchant advocate, Shift4 offers EMV today with more device and processor combinations than any other industry player

Payment gateway provider Shift4 Corporation and Springer-Miller Systems (SMS), a leading provider of guest-centric hospitality and spa management systems, today announced the general availability of their joint EMV-certified solution for hoteliers.

The integration between DOLLARS ON THE NET and Springer-Miller’s SMS|Host, SMS|Touch POS, SMS|SpaSoft and ATRIO enables users to adopt EMV at lodging, food and beverage, and spa profit centers throughout luxury hotels, spas, resorts and more. With Shift4’s portfolio of payment security solutions, hoteliers can be confident that card data is protected at every touchpoint, including online sales and reservations.

  • Layered payment security: EMV helps to prevent instances of card-present fraud at physical points of sale. With DOLLARS ON THE NET and SMS solutions, merchants can process EMV payments while adding the layered security of point-to-point encryption (P2PE) and tokenization. This keeps sensitive cardholder data out of the hotel’s payment processing environment, greatly reducing their breach profile and PCI scope — and protecting their guests’ payment data from hackers.
  • Smart devices for any payment processing environment: This integration currently supports a variety of EMV-capable smart terminals by Ingenico Group, with options for USB, serial, Ethernet, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows complex hospitality environments to easily adopt EMV across their properties, from the front desk to the spa and beyond.
  • Bank and processor neutrality: Shift4 is currently certified for EMV with eight major processors in the U.S. and Canada — with more on the way — making it easy for merchants to adopt EMV without changing their financial relationships. This also gives merchants the freedom to negotiate the best payment processing rates and make a switch if needed.

Rob Selwah, president, Springer-Miller Systems, said:
“Springer-Miller Systems wanted to ensure every new implementation offered EMV along with point-to-point encryption and tokenization so our customers can have confidence their guests’ payment data is protected across their properties. We worked closely with our friends at Shift4 to get ahead of the transition to EMV, and we couldn’t be more pleased with our integration.”

Dave Oder, CEO, Shift4, said:
“As a merchant advocate, Shift4 offers EMV today with more device and processor combinations than any other industry player — making sure that our customers aren’t left forcing a square peg into a round hole when it comes time to add EMV to their current operations. We are proud to be working together with Springer-Miller Systems to support hoteliers’ business objectives while adding the layered security of EMV with Shift4’s tokenization and point-to-point encryption solutions.”
