Victory Addiction Recovery Center Recognized by Louisiana State Board of Nursing

Victory Addiction Recovery Center (Victory) announces recognition of its Professionals Program by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN). The LSBN has recently added Victory to their select list of approved substance abuse treatment providers for the evaluation and treatment of Registered Nurses in Louisiana.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) reports the incidence of drug abuse and addiction among nurses is consistent with that of the U.S. general population. Approximately 1 in every 10 nurses experience problems with alcohol or drugs. The complexity of addiction and the unique issues of professionals lend to the need of specialized treatment. Victory’s Professionals Program is designed to effectively address the needs of professionals and assist clients in understanding and coping with issues specific to their respective professions. The primary goal of this program is to educate, support and provide assistance to these individuals for the successful transition back into active employment within their chosen professional setting. Victory’s treatment approach utilizes a team of experienced professionals to deliver holistic, evidence-based treatment aimed at full family recovery.

Melanie Courville, CEO of Victory Addiction Recovery Center, explains the dedication to providing the professional program: "The desire to become a provider for the LSBN Recovery Nurse Program (RNP) was more than a professional goal. This program is very near and dear to my heart for a couple of reasons. As a nurse in recovery, I understand all too well the pain, guilt, shame, and the darkest moments imaginable nurses suffering from this disease experience day in and day out. In July 2013, I had the privilege of receiving the support of the RNP which gave me back what I love, being a nurse.”

“Substance use problems among professionals is a well-documented subject. The emotional stress, long hours, and awareness of medications make tailoring a program to their unique challenges crucial to their long-term success,” says Victory Program Director Kerri Cunningham. “Victory’s staff is aware of the needs of this population and has developed a program to treat them effectively. Our experienced and licensed staff are looking forward to helping professionals recover.”
