COLUMBUS, Ohio (PRWEB) June 13, 2016
From June 15-17, business, policy, and political leaders from Canada and the U.S. will convene for the inaugural U.S.-Canada Summit – Strategies, Advocacy, Gateways, Engagement (S.A.G.E.) at The Ohio State University.
“We are excited to be hosting this first-in-its kind event in terms of bringing key stakeholders in the world’s largest trading relationship under ‘one roof’,” says Dan Ujczo, a trade attorney at Dickinson Wright PLLC who has worked in both the U.S. and Canadian governments. “Meeting in the political and economic heartland of the continent ensures that this Summit is more than just talk — participants will gather at The Ohio State University to develop actionable strategies for the automotive, aerospace, biomedical, energy, financial, and technology sectors and discuss the current trade debate.”
Founded by The Ohio State John Glenn College of Public Affairs, Dickinson Wright PLLC, the Cross-Border Institute, and the Center for Canadian Studies at Johns Hopkins, this three-day “retreat” will feature key speakers from both Canada and the U.S., including:
- Catherine A. Novelli, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment & fmr. VP of Worldwide Government Relations for Apple
- Ambassador Bruce A. Heyman, U.S. Ambassador to Canada
- Consul General Douglas George, Consul General of Canada for Ohio
- Governor James Blanchard, fmr. Governor of Michigan and U.S. Ambassador to Canada; Advisor to Hillary for America
- Matt Borges, Chairman of the Ohio Republican Party
Panel discussions throughout the summit will focus on a wide variety of topics that impact the Canada-U.S. relationship, including: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, agri-food, consumer products, and energy as well as discussions on initiatives to expand trade and investment across the world’s longest safe and secure border. The summit will place new emphasis on the future of binational relationships in areas such as additive manufacturing, innovation and R&D, labor mobility, and regional wellness. The event will conclude with the leading stakeholder groups meeting “under one roof” to develop an actionable set of deliverables for advancing the relationship in 2017 and beyond.
