In January, commercial roofing company West Michigan Roofing and Construction was named one of only four Mule-Hide 1906 Legacy Roofing Contractors in the state, allowing the company to fast track project warranties.

West Michigan Roofing and Construction is proud to announce that they were named a Mule-Hide 1906 Legacy Roofing Contractor as of January 13, 2016; Mule-Hide is one of the premier manufacturers of low-slope and flat roofing products in the country.

Now, once the company's Michigan roofers finish a flat roofing project with Mule-Hide products, they can instantly activate the warranty without waiting for a manufacturer inspection.

"Let's say we are doing a flat roofing project for a commercial industrial roof in winter. Now let's say we complete it, but obviously it gets covered with snow and ice and water, so they can't do a post inspection until spring. Previously, we wouldn't be able to issue a warranty until it passes that inspection, meaning the roof is vulnerable all winter long. But because we are now a legacy contractor, as soon as we fill out the paperwork, they make the warranty effective that same day," explains West Michigan Roofing and Construction owner Adam J. Megna.

The commercial roofing company can put a 15 or 20 year material and labor warranty on projects, but previously that warranty would only become valid after a Mule-Hide specialist inspector took a look to ensure that the materials were installed to the exact specifications.

According to Megna, only four roofers in the state have qualified for the honor. Megna says they were selected for the legacy status because of their near perfect record. To his knowledge, his company has never submitted a warranty claim to Mule-Hide.

Mule-Hide is a subsidiary of ABC Supply Company, the largest roofing, siding, and insulation wholesaler in the country. Megna says that his customers will also benefit from the new status.

"The client gets another inspection by the manufacturer of the material to make sure it's put on within their specifications," says Megna. "They're getting a second set of eyes on it by a rep that does nothing but inspect flat roofs. And they really pick them apart, they look at every detail, every seam."
