Los Angeles, CA -based Actress Fagun Thakrar is the first person to be honored with the prestigious Leicester Arts Achievement Award for her contributions to the arts.
Born and raised in Leicester, north of London, UK. Fagun has appeared in numerous theatre and film productions, recently turning her hand to directing. Fagun is currently at work on several projects in Los Angeles.
“I didn’t even expect to be nominated for this award,” Fagun comments, “and so I feel really honored and grateful. This award means a lot to me, coming from my hometown where I was born and grew-up. It’s really heart-warming to know that people appreciate my work.”
Fagun recently shot a movie with Brie Larson and Donald Sutherland coming out internationally later this year. Reflecting on her career thus far, Fagun says, “It’s been such a remarkable journey with lots of bumps on the road. I’ve learned a lot from all the challenges I’ve faced and I know I have so much more to learn. With all the ups and down, recognition like this, from the place where it all started for me, really truly lifts my heart.”
Along with her international success, Fagun continually gives back to her hometown—organizing stage performances, staying involved with the local arts community and mentoring other young actors coming out of Leicester. Leicester seems to be gaining notoriety on the world stage with Leicester City Football club winning the premier league last year.
