Derek Stooks, a teacher with the district for eight years, recently published, The Devil's Name is George: Confessions of a Public Education Teacher, through Amazon. Stooks wrote the comedic memoir to share his oftentimes unbelievable experiences of classroom antics as well as give his thoughts on how the current educational system should be overhauled to better support learning.

Stooks was on a year sabbatical as a full-time history teacher to write and promote his new book. Two months after the book was published, Stooks was informed that his current position as a substitute teacher would be terminated and that he should not re-apply as a full-time teacher.

A natural speaker with a flair for humor, Stooks would love to be part of any article, show or discussion on his experience as a teacher and the plight of education today.
