Kingdom Come: Tutoring a Saudi Prince

"A unique look inside Saudi Arabia through the eyes of a private tutor for a Saudi Prince."

Roger Wilkerson had the unique experience of working with Madawi Bint Mohammed bin Abdullah and Faisal Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud for several years as a private tutor can be found in the soon to be released book “Kingdom Come: Tutoring a Saudi Prince."

Two of those years were spent working, tutoring a grandson of the Crown Prince in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during a massive time of cultural evolution in the region.

The Arab Spring was swirling around the region; during this time period of 2010-12. Photography was just being allowed and virtually every world leader that had fled their country to Saudi were now living in the same neighborhood that Roger tutored in on a daily basis.

“Kingdom Come: Tutoring a Saudi Prince” covers the importance of Ramadan in business culture, separation of men and women, expat life, the insanity of international school systems, the Saudi view other cultures, and how the behind the scenes party lifestyle creates two extremely different worlds.

Roger noted, “One of my first experiences in Riyadh was watching how hotel staff having to debate for several days before deciding if they would throw a Prince out of the hotel because he couldn’t control his pet – Tiger.”

Other unique experiences included; having to get on a flight from Los Angeles to Riyadh just a few days after Bin Laden had been killed while country leaders were still debating releasing photographs as proof; experiencing the challenge of security guards trying to take away his camera and watching the fear of international schools’ executives that were filled with fear and unable to tell any Royal family member something that was negative.

The book explores not only some of the tutoring challenges for international parents but the business challenges of doing business within the Kingdom. Plus, some fun stories of nearly a thousand interactions with various members of the Royal Family.

The first chapter – Now Boarding – can be downloaded at no charge. The book is set for release during the holidays. Visit http://kingdomcome.press to register for the download.

Roger currently consults businesses on international growth in Asian markets (http://ygetarts.com).

He’s one of the few people with comedy writer and MBA (Finance) on his resume/CV. Prior to tutoring Roger coached actors, executive produced five nationally syndicated radio networks and was a writer/producer for the WMMR FM morning show.
