CFA Society New York (http://www.nyssa.org/), formerly known as the New York Society of Security Analysts, or "NYSSA," has been recognized by CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals that sets the standard for professional excellence, as the 2017 recipient of the following awards:
Strategic Initiatives: Delivering Member Value
- NYSSA received this global award for providing compelling value on a consistent basis to all members across our vibrant member community. NYSSA’s membership grew to 10,000 during the period.
Research Foundation Society Award: Events/Activities
- NYSSA was chosen by CFA Institute Research Foundation to receive this award based on our robust calendar of informative and educational events. We host over 70 seminars per year while also offering numerous member only forums organized according to member interests. During the period, we also hosted the 50th anniversary celebration of the Research Foundation itself. At this celebration Frank Fabozzi was presented with the JAMES R. VERTIN AWARD.
Outstanding Young Leader: Thomas Brigandi
- Tom was chosen as the inaugural recipient of this global award for his prolific work at NYSSA. He has built a team of over 150 volunteers who regularly organize events from an independent and objective perspective. The most successful of these is the ASSET OWNER SERIES (https://www.nyssa.org/nyssa-asset-owner-series/) which hosts Chief Investment Officers from each segment of the Asset Owner universe. The CFA Institute Society Awards Program was established in 2006 to identify and reward efforts of societies in the delivery of the CFA Institute mission and provide value to the investment professionals they represent. This year, there were 132 nominations submitted globally in 14 award categories, representing 51 societies.
“We are both thrilled and honored to receive such recognition and accolades this year,” said Daniel Dagen, CFA, Chief Executive Officer of NYSSA. “As a member society of CFA Institute, we are dedicated in our efforts help build the next generation of investment professionals, to serve our members and promote the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence.
