Leading home infusion provider streamlines operations with Mediware’s consulting services

Mediware Information Systems, Inc. announced today that Empire Home Infusion Services, a New York-based provider of customized home infusion pharmacy services, has experienced dramatic results from an innovative consulting and training partnership with Mediware Reimbursement Services. Empire Home Infusion Services, part of the St. Peter’s Health Partners system, has relied on Mediware Reimbursement Services to manage its home infusion billing and collection needs since 2004. Recently, Empire expanded its partnership with Mediware to include on-site consulting and training from Mediware’s reimbursement team. The goals were to identify Empire’s needs and to implement strategies for business improvement.

Michelle Mazzacco, vice president of the community services division of St. Peter’s Health Partners, was confident that Mediware’s training would help Empire overcome challenges in overproccessing, managing Part D drug plans, and determining patient coverage during intake. “We thoroughly enjoyed working with Mediware to identify areas where our business can improve and become more efficient,” says Mazzacco. “After the training, we were provided with an extensive report of recommendations that we have already started to implement, and that have already driven positive results. We can now stand by our commitment to always respond to incoming referrals within thirty minutes, which has greatly improved our relationship with referral sources. In addition, we have streamlined insurance verification and how we manage Part D claims so that our business minimizes the risk of unpaid claims and in turn reduces our overall bad debt,” adds Mazzacco.
