Immigration Law Firm Delgado Rompf Bruen LLC Opens in Chicago
CHICAGO (PRWEB) November 16, 2017 -- Attorneys Marta Delgado and Elizabeth Rompf Bruen bring together a wealth of expertise and knowledge in the immigration field with their newly created law firm: Delgado Rompf Bruen LLC. Both attorneys have been recognized as Leading Lawyers in Illinois, a distinction held by only five percent of Illinois attorneys.
The full-service immigration law firm offering services in Spanish and English opened in July 2017 on 180 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago. The firm represents clients in all aspects of immigration law including employment-based immigration and compliance, family-based immigration, naturalization and citizenship, removal defense, and appeals.
“We advise anyone who is either here legally who wants to become a citizen or for people who have employees or family members who want to come to the United States in some sort of lawful status,” Delgado said. “We help them figure out the best solution for their needs.”
Delgado and Rompf Bruen look forward to utilizing their experience to help their clients realize their immigration goals. Delgado, who has family in the United States and Mexico, understands firsthand immigrants’ concerns about immigration status. In addition to working on employment-based and individual cases, the topic that concerns some clients is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA, program. According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website, DACA, created in 2012, is a policy that allowed certain people who came to this country as children and met several guidelines to request deferred action for a period of two years that was subject to renewal.
“Unfortunately, DACA, as we knew it, ceased to exist as of Oct. 5 based on the recision that Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced,” Delgado said. “This means that people are no longer eligible to renew their DACA status if they haven’t done so by Oct. 5. We’re counseling people whose status may be expiring soon to see what sort of status they can retain in the future, what options they have to shift from DACA to some other kind lawful status.”
Because of the uncertainty surrounding certain immigration laws, Delgado highly recommends that those who are lawful permanent residents or have valid status consider the citizenship process.
“For people who are permanent residents and have been here for a long time, it’s a good time to look at citizenship and naturalization because you don’t know how the laws are going to change and how they might impact your status in the future,” she said.
