Nasutsa Mabwa, president of ServiceMaster By Simons, a disaster restoration and specialty cleaning franchise servicing Chicago, North Shore and Oak Park, was one of 21 female entrepreneurs who won the Daily Herald Business Ledger’s Influential Women of Business Award. The award honorees were recognized at the event held November 3 at Belvedere Banquets in Elk Grove Village.

The publication’s awards are presented to outstanding women executives who excel in business, civic and personal arenas. The honorees’ businesses are located or have a major presence in the publication’s coverage area of suburban Chicago.

Founded in 2012, ServiceMaster By Simons provides emergency disaster restoration services from smaller residential damages to large commercial losses caused by water, fire & smoke, mold remediation, and a wide range of interior specialty cleaning to residential and commercial customers.

"As a woman small business owner in a historically male-dominated service industry, it is great to be recognized,” Mabwa said. “However, the award truly goes to our employees. ServiceMaster By Simons team members are out there every day as they strive to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations and provide a steady hand through disruptive disasters. Our compassionate employees are the reason our company succeeds."

The publication’s selection committee also took into consideration how the nominees "give back" to their communities and/or employees.

Contributing to the welfare of local nonprofits is an integral part of ServiceMaster By Simons. The company has formed partnerships with local nonprofits such as The Evanston Arts Center and the Talking Farm in Skokie. Mabwa also currently serves on the board of Roosevelt University’s Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate in Chicago, providing mentoring and scholarships to women and minorities for commercial real estate academic programs.
